I was asked to design a marketing look for the first ever GSA–Boogertman+Partners International Lecture Series. International speakers within the fields of architecture and urbanism was invited to speak at GAP, the GSA’s inner-city event space. The idea was proposed in order for young South African architects and students to learn from, interact with and meet speakers on a one-on-one basis. As always, the event look had to support the GSA’s identity whilst having a unique feel and interesting concept.
The relationship between destinations, travel routes, conversation and networking was explored for the first two options and a more typical concept for a third option was explored which dealt with shapes, workshops and form. All three were approved, but we decided to use the first concept, a play on African weaving, travel routes and design for 2016 with the aim to roll-out the remaining two concepts during 2017 and 2018.
