The private tutoring industry in the United Kingdom is growing and becoming more lucrative as a business. “Miss A’s” is one such business which will specialise in exam preparation and remedial tutoring for children.
I was asked to design the identity for Miss A’s early in 2015. The brand name was short, catchy and easy to remember. “Miss A’s” suggests a fairly obvious focus: to achieve A-grades. Coincidently, however, it also refers to it’s founder, Miss Anna.
The challenge was to design a brand for Miss A’s that’s both professional and approachable. After careful market research it was decided to avoid typical imagery of owls, books, apples, light bulbs or graduation caps as it would prevent Miss A’s from standing out from local competitors. Instead custom lettering with the letter “A” forming a tick mark was designed. Anna loves turquoise and chose this to be her brand colour.
