The VIAD research centre at the University of Johannesburg approached me to do a brand evolution. The VIAD logo is already well known amongst the art and academic circles and therefore needed to retain it’s familiarity.
The brand name hierarchy was corrected to read “VIAD FADA” (indicating the centre at the Faculty of Art and Design) and was given a subtitle. The logo was completely redrawn, using a similar typeface. Finally, a new secondary colour palette was introduced to give the brand more visual interest when designing the centre’s event posters, exhibition catalogues, office stationary and more.
